This Art Deco style Parisian bookbinding was designed by Paul Bonet (1889-1971) for A Rebours (Huysmans).
Writing about this decoration in his Notebooks, the famous artist-bookbinder wrote that it was “curious binding, the only one bearing a motif in champlevé enamel”. Apart from this rare particularity, this beautiful illustrated edition with 80 coloured dry-points is one of fifty on Imperial Japan paper, including a suite on Chinese paper with all the etchings in black, in their final state, and enhanced with an original double drawing in pencil, signed by the painter Armand Coussens.
