Funds and projects

Crowdfunding (or collective financing) to provide support for books is an alternative means of financing that enables the general public to make a contribution to book publishing and conservation projects related to our heritage libraries.

The Claire and Michel Lemay Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, has awarded prizes to three students for their innovative end of studies projects relating to Internet technologies. The prizes were awarded at the end of the session marking the new 2012-2013 academic year at the Eurometropolitan e-campus in Tournai.

The celestial and terrestrial globes created by Willem Jansz. Blaeu (1571-1638) and restored thanks to support from the Léon Courtin-Marcelle Bouché Fund, were inaugurated on Saturday, 14 September. They now once more adorn the Nottebohm Room of the Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library in Antwerp.

A workshop on the subject of Stanley and Livingstone was held on 16 September 2013, within the framework of the exhibition « Dr Livingstone, I presume ». The event was a joint initiative of the Royal Museum of Central Africa and the King Baudouin Foundation Heritage Fund.

On 7 October, the Myriam Garfunkel Fund is organising an evening of cinema in honour of the critic Myriam Garfunkel. A series of films made during World War I will be screened.
