Hugo Claus, Con Amore is an exhibition about and in celebration of Hugo Claus at the BOZAR, Brussels. A portrait without precedent, with several pieces from our Hugo Claus and Christian Dotremont archives. A first!
Discover several works and documents from Hugo Claus’s estate, acquired by the Heritage Fund, that have never before been exhibited. These archives throw precious light on the writer’s life and work. They bring together letters, manuscripts, typographic accounts and proofs relating to poetry and prose as well as the theatre and cinema, notebooks and other personal documents such as diaries, personal diaries and articles relating to literary prizes.
This exhibition is also an occasion for the general public to discover two of Claus’s masterpieces from the Christian Dotremont Archival Fund, donated to the King Baudouin Foundation by Guy Dotremont. Firstly the pantomime-poem Zonder vorm van proces (Without Form of Trial), with lithographs by Pierre Alechinsky. Secondly, Natuurgetrouw (True to Nature), a collection containing not just stories and fables, but also sketches, poems, dialogues and reflexions.
