In 2018, the Summa Villa Fund acquired two portraits by Victor Lejeune, a painter from Verviers. This Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, has as its mission to preserve the heritage of the region of Verviers.
Victor Lejeune (1812-1863) studied drawing at the Collège de Verviers and completed his training in Liege. He worked as a portraitist in Antwerp and Brussels, before returning to Verviers in 1841, where he continued to paint numerous portraits in the Romantic style. These included portraits of Auguste Vivroux and his wife Caroline Cuvelier. Auguste Vivroux was an architect who was very active in public life and was responsible for several buildings in the region of Verviers, including the Collège Communal (a local school) and the Château de La Louveterie.
These two portraits acquired by the Summa Villa Fund, are important testimonies to the history of Verviers. They are exhibited at the Verviers Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramics.
