The Plateforme pour l’Education et le Talent is supporting 8 young artisans who will represent Belgium in heritage skills at the international Euroskills 2020 competition.
Sofina and the descendants of Gustave Boël created within the King Baudouin Foundation a platform that focuses on education and training with the aim of supporting the emergence and boosting the talents of young people. Since 2015, this platform has been associated with Worldskills Belgium to train young artisans in the field of heritage skills to prepare them for their participation in various Worldskills and Euroskills international competitions.
Between 6 and 10 January 2021, more than 500 young people, from 28 countries, will defend their trade to obtain a European title in Graz (Austria) during the 2020 Euroskills competition. Among them will be 8 talented young Belgians selected by the Platform:
Valentin Servais (aged 19): Landscape gardening
Thibault Martin (aged 20): Landscape gardening
Wouter De Meester (aged 22): Cabinetmaking
Maximilien Boogaerts (aged 19): Stonemasonry
Antoine Gillet (aged 18): Joinery
Valérie Hauspie (aged 19): Painting and decorating
David Kaschinski (aged 18): Plastering and dry wall systems
Mathéo Ronzullo (aged 18): Stonemasonry
Over the next few months the participants will receive technical and psychological coaching so as to be well-prepared for the competition and do well in Graz.
Since 2012, the Platform has launched an annual call for candidates to support the training of young Belgian artisans, aged 20 to 35, with some of the best professionals in the world in their various disciplines. Do you have a project for an internship or training course abroad? If so, send in your application before 26 August 2020.
