This autumn, the Petit Palais is presenting the exhibition "Jordaens 1593-1678. La gloire d’Anvers" (The glory of Antwerp). Some 120 works illustrate the richness and diversity of Jordaens’ inspiration: from his family portraits and large religious compositions to his famous proverbial subjects, banqueting scenes and even tapestry cartoons. The diversity of his work is thus highlighted.
Le Joueur de Cornemuse (The Bagpipe Player) by Jacob Jordaens, acquired by the King Baudouin Foundation in 2009 and entrusted to the Rubens House in Antwerp, is exhibited in the section of the exhibition devoted to self-portraits, where it appears in parallel with other works and sources of inspiration of the artist.
