The 'Bibliothèque Nationale de France' (French National library) is honouring two of the greatest living artists of the 9th art. This exhibition follows the one organized by the King Baudouin Foundation at the Bibliotheca Wittockiana to thank François Schuiten and Benoît Peeters for their donation of original artwork they created for the cult series 'Cités Obscures'.

The BNF is exhibiting a selection of original artwork from four albums in the series Cités Obscures donated to it by the artists: Les Murailles de Samaris (as well as Les Mystères de Pâhry made for the new 2007 edition of the album), La Tour, L’Enfant penchée and L’Ombre d’un homme.

On the 30th anniversary of the 'Cités Obscures' series, François Schuiten and Benoît Peeters decided that they would like to conserve their original artwork and documents relating to its creation by donating it to six Belgian and French institutions: the King Baudouin Foundation, the 'Bibliothèque Nationale de France', the 'Maison Autrique' (in the commune of Schaerbeek, Brussels), the 'Musée de la Bande Dessinée' in Angoulême, the 'Centre de l’Image in La Louvière' and the 'Centre Belge de la Bande Dessinée' (CBBD) in Brussels.
